The Red Fort, also known as Lal Qila, is a historic fort in Old Delhi, India.

It was commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638 when he moved the capital from Agra to Delhi.

The fort's design is credited to architect Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who also designed the Taj Mahal.

It is considered the pinnacle of Mughal architecture under Shah Jahan, blending Persianate and Indian architectural styles.

The Red Fort was plundered by Nader Shah in 1739, leading to the loss of its artwork and jewels.
